Yes, visitors can now work remotely for overseas employers or clients while in New Zealand without breaching their visa conditions.
Who is eligible for these new remote work visa conditions?
All visitor visa holders, including tourists, people visiting family, and partners or guardians on longer-term visitor visas, as well as those entering with an NZeTA, are eligible.
Can visitor visa holders work for New Zealand employers?
No. They cannot work for a New Zealand employer, provide goods/services to NZ businesses, or do work that requires physical presence at a workplace in NZ.
Is there a time limit for working remotely from New Zealand?
Yes. If someone intends to work remotely for more than 92 days in a 12-month period, they must be aware of potential tax implications.
