This visa is for students having a foreign government loan or scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria for Foreign Government Supported Student Visa

  • This visa allows you to study in New Zealand for more than 3 months provided you have a loan or a scholarship from a foreign government.
  • You can apply for this visa only if the country supporting your study has an education agreement with New Zealand.

  • You can study for the particular course full time in schools, tertiary institutes or for English language study.
  • While studying, you can work part-time for up to 20 hours a week or full-time during the Christmas & New Year holidays. This will depend on your visa conditions.
  • You will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian below a certain age. Otherwise, you can live by yourself.
  • You can study in New Zealand for up to 4 years
  • Partners and dependent children can apply for visas based on their relationship to you.
